This painting captures the longing for an ideal relationship, where the connection between two people creates something greater than the sum of its parts. The title emerged from intuition, reflecting the intricate dance of relationships – ‘two’ symbolizing the individuals, and ‘three’ representing the shared bond they cultivate together. The ambiguity in the title also hints at the fluid nature of relationships, where personal identity and collective experience often merge, making it hard to distinguish between the two.
The act of painting on such a large canvas mirrors the experience of navigating a relationship – expansive, unpredictable, and beyond our control, much like the dynamics between partners. Just as the canvas seemed to grow beyond my initial intent, so too do relationships evolve in ways we usually can’t anticipate, bringing unexpected adventures and deep personal growth. This artwork is not just about the wish to be in a relationship, but about embracing the unknown and the transformative power of connection.
